Our Principal Consultant, Mwenda Kazadi, shares his story:
“I have significant experience in the agriculture and energy sectors in Liberia: developing a strong understanding of the Oil Palm, Rubber, Cocoa, Rice, Cassava, Vegetable and Biofuel sectors. During my time working in Liberia, I was provided the opportunity to gain significant field experience: traveling throughout every county; meeting and talking to both, traders and farmers (subsistence to more affluent tree crop farmers), about their experiences running their enterprises and learning about the daily challenges they face. In addition, I have worked with numerous concession companies that operate in-country (GVL, Sime Darby, Maryland Oil Palm and EPO), World Bank Group, domestic commercial banks, international institutions & development programs (FED, WFP), Government of Liberia’s various ministries and offices (Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Commerce and the National Investment Commission), on issues surrounding market and value chain development in Liberia’s agricultural sector.
Therefore, I am familiar with a lot of the constraints and issues that are unique and some not so unique to Liberia: such issues as land tenure, access to transportation, competitive cross border trade, access to finance, lack of quality input supply, and lack of irrigation technology.
Upon returning to the United States in late 2014, due to the Ebola outbreak, I founded Impact Advisory Services, in order to continue my work delivering research and financial advisory services and pursuing my vision of being a part of developing innovative solutions to address the constraints in commodity and infrastructure sectors in emerging markets.
I firmly believe that Liberia’s agricultural, mining and energy sectors have tremendous potential to transform the country for the better, however their potential is not being reached and we at Impact Advisory Services are seeking to address the issues.
Personally, I have a passion for market and sector studies, agricultural research, value chain analysis, impact projection & assessment, farmer income, farming cost & return estimates and crop yield surveys, quantitative sector (economic) modeling and identifying high impact intervention projects (using the M4P methodology), especially within the oil palm, rice and vegetable sectors.”
Impact Advisory Services inc. is currently seeking high-potential candidates with strong analytical skills and experience in emerging markets.
